Angela Walker

Angela Walker Team Leader Employment Relations

Angela acts as an employer advocate in collective bargaining for a wide range of industries and employers, both for single employer collective agreements and multiemployer collective agreements, and advises her clients on the full spectrum of employment relations issues, including performance management and disciplinary situations, personal grievances and disputes, restructuring and redundancies, industrial action, and employment agreements - basically anything to do with the employment of people and the issues that can arise.

Angela also undertakes investigations in the public and private sectors, often arising from complaints relating to harassment, bullying and the like.


Annie King

Annie King Managing Consultant

Annie King is the Employment Relations, Managing Consultant at the ECCC, Hawke’s Bay Branch.

Annie has extensive knowledge in Industrial Relations and has worked in this field for nineteen years. Prior to becoming a Consultant with ECCC in 2001 Annie was a Union Organiser with the NDU. Before this Annie owned a business in Central Hawke’s Bay.

Annie specialist field is employee relations and has advised and represented many ECCC members in a wide range of industries, including public and private health, the meat industry, processing and manufacturing, textile and retail.

Annie's primary responsibilities include Collective Bargaining, acting as an Advocate in mediation and disputes and working on contracts within organisations.

Annie brings a wealth of experience and is happy to be contacted to discuss any issue or query you may have and is available for short or long term workplace secondments.


Ken McLean

Ken McLean Senior Consultant

Ken was directly involved in human resource management with Telecom (and before that NZ Post Office) for many years. As a member of the ECCC team he has become involved in training and health and safety work and has built a sound reputation with employers in a wide range of industries.

Ken designs and delivers training to all management levels on a number of topics, from wages law to coaching and performance appraisal. In the health and safety area Ken has a particular interest in OOS issues and work station set ups, where his practical experience is considerable.


Richard Dagger

Richard Dagger Senior Consultant

Richard has been an Employment Relations Consultant and Advocate since 2000.

Richard acts as an advocate and representative for Employers in multi employer and single employer collective bargaining. Richard represents and advises Employers in disciplinary, performance management and restructuring situations. Richard deals with of employment related queries on a daily basis, providing practical advice to members on various employment related issues. Richard is able to assist Members with generating policies, agreements and other employment related documentation.

Richard is an experienced speaker conducts general and in-house seminars on employment law, and can provide customised training packages for members on request. Richard also carries out workstation assessments.


Scott Doolan

Scott Doolan Managing Consultant

Scott is managing consultant at ECCC’s Palmerston North office. He advises private, public sector and local government employers in the Manawatu/Wanganui/Wairarapa regions on all issues relating to employment. This includes establishing best practice human resource systems, and advising on current legislative requirements, general employment relations issues, as well as resolving particular disputes.

Scott has extensive experience in representing employers with collective bargaining across a board range of industries. Scott has negotiated multi employer collective agreements, multi union collective agreements and has bargained with all the large Unions.

Prior to ECCC Scott had 15 years' experience in the health sector, including as an operational manager, responsible for a team of 30 - 40 employees, and subsequently as a human resources manager.

Scott's thesis for the MA degree covered interpersonal conflict in the workplace.


Darren Mitchell

Darren Mitchell Senior Consultant

Before joining ECCC Darren worked as an employment law advocate, and as the Human Resources and Compliance Manager in a large retail store.

Darren has a broad, practical knowledge of employment law issues, and is an experienced advocate and negotiator. He advises employers on compliance with employment related legislation, restructuring and redundancies. He also provides expert help in tailoring employment agreements and contracts for services to meet particular situations, and in drafting workplace policies.

Specialising in the personal grievance and disputes area, Darren assists employers to resolve such matters in a practical and commonsense manner. He has significant experience representing employers at mediation and in the Employment Relations Authority.
Darren is also experienced trainer, and is available to carry out in-house training on employment law issues.


Nichola Hutchinson

Nichola Hutchinson Senior Consultant

Nichola initially joined EMA Central in 2000 as an Adviser in the Employment Relations team and left in 2003 to work travel overseas. Nichola rejoined ECCC in July 2011.

Nichola has worked for two multination manufacturing companies in New Zealand in generalist HR Advisor and HR Manager roles; for two NZ government departments in specialist ER roles; for a multinational entertainment company in the UK as Employment Relations Manager; and in Japan teaching English and in a team leader role.

Nichola has considerable experience in Employment Relations including mediations, personal grievances, performance management, restructuring and disciplinary situations. Nichola is able to review and draft all manner of employment related documentation that our members require. Nichola has experience advising on State Sector Act issues as well as Privacy and Official Information Act requests.

Nichola has a Bachelor of Commerce & Administration from Victoria University majoring in Industrial Relations and Commercial Law.


Jonny Sanders

Jonny Sanders Senior Consultant

Jonny Sanders has worked in employment relations since 2004.  He operates from the Nelson office as a consultant.

Jonny has broad experience in advising and representing employers in a range of employment related matters, including disciplinary and redundancy processes, mediations and disputes, drafting of employment documentation, and holidays and parental leave.  Prior to joining ECCC, Jonny worked for the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce, and at an employment law consultancy firm.

Jonny has represented clients in the Employment Relations Authority and the Employment Court.  He has a Bachelor of Business Management majoring in Employment Relations and Business Communication, and a Diploma in Human Resource Management.


Paige Riddell–Phillips

Paige Riddell–Phillips Consultant

Paige joined ECCC in 2011 having previously worked in the UK for a multinational company in HR Advisor and HR Consultant positions covering generalist HR, recruitment, immigration, and employment relations. She has broad experience of performance management, restructuring and redundancies, and disciplinary matters. She is practiced in drafting and reviewing policies, employment agreements and other documentation as required.

Paige has a Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Administration (Human Resource Management) from Massey University and a CIPD Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel and Development.

She is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a General Member of HRINZ.
